Gentle/Restorative Yoga Level I is a less athletic and slower paced class with an
emphasis on de-stressing and building a foundation of strength, flexibility
and balance. It is for those seeking a quieter environment or those
with physical challenges. Taught in a comfortable, gentle way with
relaxation, breathing awareness and other stress reduction techniques.
Gentle/Restorative Yoga Level II class for those
students who have previously completed a Gentle/Restorative class
at TYC. Using the Anusara principles of alignment, this class is designed
to improve flexibility, balance, learn relaxation techniques for tight
muscles and stress, target body issues, as well as learn more intense
and difficult yoga postures which make the student feel good both
physically and mentally. Students will leave each class feeling rejuvenated
and relaxed!
Gentle - Beginner is the perfect class for those
who are new to yoga or prefer a more relaxed pace to their yoga practice.
Basic yoga postures will be used to stretch and strengthen muscles
with the goal of improving mobility and flexibility. Classes will
also bring awareness to the student’s breath by incorporating
breathing techniques and explore how yoga can be used to reduce stress,
improve concentration, and relax both the body and mind.
Beginners Yoga is a class for those new to yoga. This class will
introduce the fundamentals of yoga, showing how yoga can increase
strength, balance and flexibility. Exploration of basic standing and
seated postures, breathing and relaxation techniques.
Basic Yoga teaches students basic yoga poses/asanas with emphasis
on proper alignment techniques. This class is appropriate for students
new to yoga or for those with limited yoga experience. It is also
suitable for long-time yoga students who want to work on the basics
of yoga. As the class has students of various levels, alternative
poses will be offered where appropriate. Class will consist of centering,
warm-up, peak poses, cool-down, and Savasana.
Mixed Levels and Early AM Yoga classes
are well rounded classes suitable for beginning through intermediate
students. The fundamentals of yoga are taught using the Anusara principles
of alignment and modification are made when needed. These classes
also include breath work, stress reduction and relaxation techniques.
Children 12 and up welcome in the Sunday class only.
Advanced Beginner is for the student who has completed the
Beginner class and feels he/she is ready for a more advanced class.
This class focuses on refining the standing, seated and forward bend
postures using the Anusara principles of alignment. Students will
learn simple back bends and shoulder stand, as well as more advanced
breathing techniques.
Advanced Yoga focuses on back bends, inversions,
twists, as well as refining standing poses using the Anusara principles
of alignment. Students must have a strong command of yoga poses. Drop-ins
with teacher approval only.
Yoga for Weight Loss focuses on the physical and emotional
imbalances that contribute to excess weight. Burn calories, tone muscles,
curb cravings, and promote glandular balance with techniques that
can transform your body and your life.
Vinyasa refers to a sequence of poses that flow from one to
another in conjunction with the breath. Using classical yoga asanas
and creative variations students will be encouraged to move at their
own pace. Modifications for beginners and options for advanced level
students will be provided throughout the class.
Prenatal, Postnatal, Parent's and Children's Classes
Prenatal Yoga helps you stay healthy and relaxed throughout
your pregnancy while toning your body using the Anusara principles
of alignment. This helps to make a more comfortable labor and delivery.
Dad's-to-be are also welcome to register for the class. New and experienced
yoga students are welcome.
Postnatal Yoga is for new moms to ease back into
regaining their strength and restoring muscle tone. It will also help
to ease the strain of carrying the baby. New moms will learn to relate
to both her own new body and her new baby. Babies ages 6 weeks to
6 months are welcome to Saturday classes, but Thursday class is moms
only.
Family Yoga adults and children ages 9 and up can
come together to learn the basics of yoga and explore how yoga can
energize, relax and restore you. This class seeks to allow families
to integrate their yoga practice and family time; while offering a
way for parents and children to connect and find balance in a hectic
and busy world.
Yoga for Kids is a fun, creative yoga class for ages 5 to 11
years old. By going on adventures and playing games using yoga poses,
students become more flexible, build strength, learn to focus and
concentrate. Yoga helps children gain self-esteem; improve balance
and motor coordination along with coping skills to help with the stresses
of daily life. Relaxation and breathing techniques are taught in every
class.
Yoga for Tots is a class for parent and child ages 2 to 4
to enjoy together while creating a special bond. Both will learn to
focus, concentrate, balance, improve motor skills, build strength
and become more flexible. Together, parent and child will learn skills
to cope with stress. Relaxation and breathing techniques are a part
of every class.
